I joined Doosan Babcock (then Babcock Energy Limited) in 1985 as a Technical Apprentice based in Renfrew. My apprenticeship years comprised of both in-house training and block release college studies, at the end of which I gained an HNC in Mechanical Engineering.
Over the following years I progressed through various engineering, planning and supervisory roles within the Manufacturing area of the Company. In 1989, sponsored by Doosan Babcock, I undertook a BEng (Hons) Degree (Mechanical Electronics). After graduation, I was promoted to the position of Production Superintendent for the Pipe & Manifold Department, where I had overall responsibility for the operating performance of the department.
In 1996 I was appointed Project Manager responsible for the delivery of a wide range of projects for both the UK and US markets. During the following years I gained valuable Project Management experience working on thermal power, pharmaceutical and nuclear projects.
In 2002, again sponsored by Doosan Babcock, I undertook an MBA degree. Upon successful completion of my MBA I was promoted to the position of Senior Project Manager and given the opportunity to project manage a complex and challenging multi-million pound Alliance EPC project at Sellafield.
In 2005 I was appointed to the position of Manager Engineering, Renfrew with responsibility for the management of some 180 off professional staff providing engineering support to all of our Services projects.
In December 2007 I was appointed to the position of Director, Project Control. As part of the Operations Group Senior Management team I have responsibility for the development of our Project Control capability across all Doosan Babcock operational execution centres both in UK and overseas.
